SWAT Team Schedule

We recently had 11 students complete level one of the SWAT Team training.  Some of the things they learned were: leading by example, being a power mover, holding targets properly, using the coaches alphabet and 5 levels of praise.  Now that their training is complete, these students will begin to assist in classes.

SWAT Leaders should arrive at least 10 minutes prior to his/her assigned class and greet other students as they arrive.  Be sure to wear proper uniform so you look & smell like a leader!

March 2015 News

What's going on in March?  Read below!

Dunamis Karate News

March 2015

Thank you to everyone who represented Dunamis Karate at the Goodwill Tournament on Feb. 28th.   I am very proud of each of you for showing such great sportsmanship – win or lose, you were polite and respectful to the judges and your fellow competitors.  That brought honor to me as your instructor, to our school and to your parents!

You will see we have several events this month that will serve as fund raisers for Jim Woods Ministries mission work in Liberia, West Africa.  We are working with the villagers there to build a mission school that will house and educate 160 students.  Please participate as much as possible with these events to help us fund this project and educate these children in need.  (For more information on Jim Woods Ministries, visit www.JimWoods.org.)

NEW AWARDS
We are implementing a STAR Student award … instructors will watch for any student demonstrating STAR Student qualities, on or off the mat, and award a STAR patch.  Each instructor will have a personalized color.  Mrs. Woods is Black.  Miss Andi is Purple.  Miss Emma is Green.  Mrs. Allison is Blue.  Do your best to demonstrate behavior/qualities that will earn you a STAR from each instructor!
(Examples of STAR Student qualities are: self discipline on the mat, proper uniform, giving encouragement to classmates, respect for instructors fellow students & parents, keeping dojo clean & tidy, participating in special events, etc.  The list could go on and on.  Basically, we are watching for anything that we feel is worthy of special recognition!)
