New Ranks at Dunamis Karate

We had belt evaluations again at Dunamis Karate on Feb. 16-17th.
During those 2 days, all students eligible for promotion were graded on various skills including punches, kicks, blocks, one steps, katas, self defense, and fighting techniques as well as their focus, eye contact attitude and overall improvement.

March 12 – 10am-12pm - EZ Defense for Women … $20
In today's world, you never know when you will need self-defense skills to protect yourself or even your child. EZ Defense for Women is a safe, simple and effective method of self-protection that really works. This unique seminar focuses on actions we can all take to prevent conflicts and altercations from happening in the first place rather than just teaching you physical defense solutions. Our past program participants say that the program has helped give them the boost they needed to attain goals, be more assertive at work and to stand up for themselves if needed. You'll be surprised at how confident and secure you'll feel after attending just one seminar. Best of all, no previous experience is necessary.

March 12th - 1:00 pm Until ... CKD Pre-Test Filming

March 14th – 17th – GREEN Week … Wear GREEN on the mat and earn a ticket for the drawing.

March 25-26th – Karate Lock-In - 7pm – 8am … $40
Get ready for an "all-nighter" at Dunamis Karate. Bring your sleeping bags & pillows for this night filled with various educational and fun activities including jump kicks, jiujitsu, fitness challenge, tumbling, stunt fighting, video games, karate baseball, obstacle coarse, movie, DODGE BALL and MORE! The cost is only $40 which includes food & drinks. (Come to the Lock-in & get the Leadership Bootcamp for ½ price)

March 28-29th – 9am-12pm … Leadership Training Boot Camp … $40
Are you a S.W.A.T. Team member? Have you ever wanted to be? Do you want to be a leader on the mat and in Life? This camp is designed for you. This course is valued at $100 but we are offering it to our students for only $40!!! We want various ages to get certified through this training: 8-12 year olds, teens, and adults!! We will cover: The Look of a Leader; One Word Commands; The Creed; Leading by Example; How to properly hold pads; Being a Line Leader; Being a Power Mover; Team Coaching - Being a Good Finder; Engaging the Students; Helping Students; Making Contact; The Coaching Alphabet; The Praising Machine; 5 Levels of Praising; Music Monitor; and Evaluations. Participants completing the course will be certified leaders on the mat and will receive a Jr. Leader patch for their uniforms. They will also have their pictures placed on a Leadership Board in the school and on our Dunamis Karate website. This camp is not just for students! Weekly Update from Dunamis Karate

First, let me say thank you to the students who participated in the Hyper Perseverance Camp.  You guys showed true perseverance by working hard through the entire 8.5 hour camp and I hope you are as proud of yourself as I am of you!     I have uploaded pictures and videos from the Perseverance camp on our Facebook and Youtube page.  Check them out and leave some words of encouragement for those who participated!

Belt Graduation This Friday at 5:30pm we will have our belt graduation ceremony.  Each class will work this week on a special performance for the family and friends who come to show their support at the graduation.  After the short performance, the students will receive their new ranks. After all the belt presentations, everyone is invited to stay and watch the movie "Despicable Me."  Bring blankets/pillows for lounging on the mat while we watch the movie.  You are also welcome to bring your own snacks and resealable drinks (must have a top that closes). Goodwill Karate Tournament  The Goodwill Karate Tournament is quickly approaching.  The pre-registration cut off is Feb. 28th.  If you have not mailed in your $40 cashier's check or money order along with the registration form , you need to do so quickly!  Remember, our school will be part of the opening demonstrations and any student who is attending the tournament is invited to join us in the show.  We will be doing the same show at the tournament that we do for the graduation. Tournament Prep Class We will have a special tournament prep class on Friday, March 4th at 5:30pm.  This class will give students the last minute confidence they need to be prepared for the tournament.  We will cover the check in process, the line up, ring assignments, and give each student a chance to perform their forms/weapons in front of the "practice judges" giving them extra tips to improve their performance. Download the Exam Request Form which must be fill out and returned with testing fee prior to belt testing.

Hyper Perseverance Camp We still have a few spot available.  If you want  your child to attend, please get them registered ASAP because the T-shirts will be ordered this week! The camp is sure to re-motivate & inspire students to train hard and persevere through the rough spots ... in karate and in LIFE! Register Online or at the Dunamis Karate pro-shop.

Pajama Bottoms We had Pajama Bottoms days on the calendar for Feb. 14th and 15th, but we are expanding the days into this week (Feb. 7-10 and 14-15).  Students who wear pajama bottoms to class will receive a ticket for the ticket contest to be drawn on March 31st!

Parents Night Out / Valentine's Party This Friday, Feb. 11th  Enjoy a night out on the town with your Valentine while we entertain the kids!   They are guaranteed to have a blast as we have tons of activities planned for the evening. 6:00pm until 10:00pm  Only $10 Space is limited to 25 people to register ASAP!
