Dunamis Karate News - October 2018 We have several schedule changes happening this month due to the Gopher Hill Festival and belt testing.  Be sure to read carefully and mark your calendars so you don’t forget! Printable Calendar/News/Test Form Thursday, 10/4   No Regular Class 4:45 Gopher Hill Practice for All Ages and All Ranks – ALL OTHER CLASS TIMES CANCELLED.   We encourage students to support the Gopher Hill Festival this evening.  Here is the schedule for your reference:  6:00 Kidz Parade / 6:30 Turtle Race / 7:00 Tub Race / 7:30 Pet Show / 8:00 Talent Show followed by Mark Bonds performing. Friday, 10/5   Gopher Hill Festival Practice at 5:30 All students participating in the performance are asked to be in attendance.   We will finish in time for you to attend the Gopher Hill Festival music/dance which starts at 6:30. Saturday, 10/6 Gopher Hill Practice at 11:30 (immediately after the parade) then the performance at 12:30.  We will walk from Dunamis Karate to stage at Main St. after we practice.  Students need to wear White Gi Pants, Sneakers, and the 2018 Gopher Hill Tee! Belt Testing 10/8 – 10/11 TEST REQUIREMENTS: * Clean well-fitting white uniform                                  * Minimum 80% Class attendance * Tuition Payments up to date                                                   * Test form and fee turned in prior to belt testing * Flag & Dunamis Patch attached to the uniform (Gold & Up)        * Active UFAF Membership (Purple Belts & up) * Fight Night Attendance (Purple & Up – 1 every 2 months) TEST SCHEDULE WILL BE AS FOLLOWS Monday 10/8 Ridgeland Belt Testing During Regular Class Time Tuesday 10/9 Ridgeland Int/Adv Test at 4:45 – Regular class at 6:00 then Krav Maga at 7:00 Wednesday 10/10 Hampton Int Test at 5:00 – Advanced test at 6:15 – No Hyper Class Thursday 10/11 Hampton Belt Testing During Regular Class Time Pay Test Fee Online Bring a Friend Week Oct. 15-18         Bring a friend to class with you this week only and get a mark on your BINGO Cards! Oct. 12-13  Regional Workouts and Black Belt test at American Martial Arts in New Smyrna Beach, FL Friday, 10/26     1st Degree Black Belt Test  7:00 PM Dunamis Karate will be holding a 1st Degree Black Belt test for our candidates who passed the pretest held in September. Friday, 10/26     Hyper Fight Club NOTE NEW TIME 5:30 – 6:30  Remember Fight Night is REQUIRED for Purple Belts and up.  You must attend at least one each test cycle in order to be eligible to test.  If you need to purchase gear, see Mrs. Woods or Mrs. Bunton ASAP! Thursday, 11/1  TURN IN YOUR BINGO CARDS!   Also, LAST DAY to wear summer uniforms (shorts/tees). Starting 11/5 ALL classes must be in FULL UNIFORM! Friday, 11/2    Blaster Wars Parents Night Out 5:30 – 9:00 Back by popular demand we will hold another nerf battle fun night for the kids while the parents enjoy some adult free time without the kids.  Space is LIMITED, so register early to reserve your spot.  The cost is only $20 and you can bring 1 non-karate friend for FREE! We now have an APP with training videos to help our students practice and progress.  Download My Studio App from Itunes or Google Play Store and enter our school code - 29936 - to access our school.  I added some FREE training videos so you can share the ap p with friends who may be interested in our school.  Check the app on a regular basis for updates and hopefully training tips! (Students/Parents - You will have to message me directly to get a password for the Beginner or Intermediate training videos.)

Gopher Hill Festival Prep

The Gopher Hill Festival is QUICKLY approaching and we are working hard in our classes to ensure each class has an exciting piece to add to our performance.

Remember we want EVERY student to participate in the show and EVERY student needs to purchase a Gopher Hill tee.  The cost is $15 plus tax if you pre-order by Friday, 9/21.  After that, the cost will be $20 plus tax.

Parents, it would be wonderful if you would also purchase and wear a shirt to show support for our school.

This is the design we have chosen for this year.  You can choose either light ash gray or dark heather gray.  (The sample shown is dark heather gray.)  Be sure to mark your size and color choice on the order form!  Remember you must order by 9/21 or the price will go up!

Every year we look forward to performing for the crowds at the annual Gopher Hill Festival and this year we have some great things planned.  We would like ALL students (from Hampton & Ridgeland) to join us in this demo!   Over the next several weeks, we will be working on various pieces of the performance during our normal class times.  We also have a practice walk-through planned for Friday, Oct. 5th at 5:30.   We require everyone who is participating in the demo to purchase the special Gopher Hill t-shirt.  The deadline for orders is 9/18.  Parents and family members are encouraged to also purchase a t-shirt to show your support for our students!  The cost of the tees is only $15 plus tax.
