Dunamis Karate Newsletter April 2021 Spring is upon us and, as quickly as this year is passing, summer will be here before we know it. April is going to be a busy month with so many important events you do not want to miss! Please read everything carefully and mark your calendars so you don’t miss anything! Printable Calendar Hampton Students Join us for an Easter egg hunt at Lightsey Park on Saturday, April 3rd at 1:00 PM. Be sure to bring your own basket or something to hold all your eggs! Saturday, April 10th at 10:00 AM This is your LAST chance to attend a fight club before belt testing! Saturday, April 10th at 11:00 AM This is our LAST Saturday practice before the Black Belt test. Monday-Tuesday, April 12-13 Check the list below to make sure you meet ALL the requirements: Clean well fitting uniform Minimum 80% class attendance Tuition payments must be up to date Flag patch and Dunamis patch attached to uniform (Gold Belts & Up) Fight Night attendance (at least 1 per test cycle) (Purple Belts & Up) Active UFAF membership with UFAF patch on the left chest (Purple & Up) If you are not testing, you do not have regular classes on Monday or Tuesday. If you are late to class, you may not be admitted! Buddy Challenge Day Wed. & Thur. April 14-15 Bring a Buddy to class with you on Wednesday & Thursday after belt testing. The entire class will be a Buddy Challenge … We will have kicking challenges, punching challenges, fitness challenges, and more, so choose a friend who you want to compete against! T-Shirt Week for Missions APRIL 19-22 For a $1.00 donation each day students can wear their favorite Tee in place of the Gi. All money donated will go toward mission work in Liberia, West Africa! Infinite Power Parents Night Out Friday, April 23 6-9pm What goes on at our Infinite Power Parents Night Out? Flying? Smashing? Upholding justice? YES! … And so much more! Your kids will go on a heroes journey to collect the six power stones before the villain, Nekros gets to them first. They will complete exciting challenges and games in order to capture the 6 stones in time. Sword battles, tag games, interactive challenges and more await our team of heroes! Your kids and their friends are going to be talking about this for days! Limited Spots Available. Register Below! Register for PNO Leadership Team Training SWAT Team Training Friday, 4/30 at 5-7 PM Come learn about being a Leader … On and Off the Mat Learn about being a good finder, a power mover and about using the coaches alphabet. This training is open to students ages 7 and up who are at least a Purple Belt. The cost of this training is only $10. Register through the Events Tab on the Dunamis Karate App. STORM Team Training Saturday, May 1 at 10:00-12:00 STORM Team training is for students who are serious about leading classes and potentially becoming instructors. Students in this class will learn about the Five Step Teaching Platform, the Learning Circle, Character Development, Class Formations, One Word Commands, and Pulling Out Black Belt Qualities. STORM Team Training is By Invitation Only! Summer Uniforms Start May 3rd From May to October students are allowed to wear “summer uniforms.” Summer uniforms consist of a Dunamis, Hyper or CNS tee, and gi pants or shorts with the Dunamis Logo and your karate belt. 2021 Summer Tee Design We are now taking orders for our 2021 Summer Tee! The cut off for orders will be 4/17. Bring us your shorts and we will add the logo for only $5.00!! Special PARENT Tee Also Available Remember, the cut off for tee orders is 4/17. 2021 UFAF ITC Registration Opens March 1st! The annual UFAF International Training Conference, World Championships and Gala are help in Las Vegas each year in July. The event is open to ALL UFAF members and their families. If you are interested in joining us on this trip, see Mrs. Woods, Mrs. Allison, or speak to Mrs. Britney with the Dunamis Karate Booster Club! Log in to the UFAF homepage to register! March 3-4 will be BUDDY DAYS We all can see how great everyone has been doing in classes lately! When you guys work this hard, we love to give back. That's why we put our heads together and came up with something awesome … Heroes in Training! On March 3rd-4th, our students will get to get into hero mode as they work on some special crime-fighting skills. Just in case, you don’t think that is cool enough… You also get to bring your friends with you! Guests need to be pre-registered so the waiver is signed or a parent must accompany them into the school!

1st Degree Friday, March 19th, 5:30-Until 2nd-3rd Degree Saturday, March 20th, 10am-Until NOTE - Black Belt Pretest Fee must be paid through the app by Wednesday, March 17th or a $25 late fee will be added!!!

Get ready for your child to step back in time to a Lost World! Dr. Hannon, an adventurer, has found an uncharted island that has seemingly been untouched by time. Rumor has it dinosaurs still roam the island, so come prepared! He will need YOUR child’s help to explore the island and encounter the wildlife there! So if your child is ready to go on the adventure of a lifetime, make sure to sign them up for the Lost World Parent’s Night Out! Get ready to have a night off while your children get wrapped up in a story line where they will discover dinosaurs, fend off attacks, and escape the island in one piece! This night is like no other! Spaces fill up quickly so don't delay!

Saturday, March 27th 10-11am $5.00 - Pay through the app or bring cash Remember sparring is part of your belt requirements. Purple Belts and up are required to spar at least once every 2 months (on average) in order to belt test. Students must have their own sparring gear. If you need to purchase gear, please see Mrs. Woods or Mrs. Allison to get measured and get it ordered!

Belt Testing - Here's what you need to know!

 

Belt Testing February 22-23 During Class

REGISTER through the app and there is no need for paperwork. ALL students who are testing need to register ... Friday, February 12th 6:00 - 9:00 PM For one nite only, we will need your kids to help stop the zombie invasion that has plagued the earth! DUNAMIS KARATE will be hosting our first Blanket Fort Nite Parent’s Night Out where your kids will hone their blanket fort construction skills, save the world, and have a blast while doing it! It's a chance for you to get a few hours to yourself (or enjoy some time with your Valentine) while your kids have a blast following an attention-grabbing storyline and playing themed games! Both parents and kids love our Parent’s Night Out events and they always fill up fast. Space is limited, so don’t delay!
