Dunamis Karate  March 2022 Newsletter We are already into the 3rd month of 2022. It’s unbelievable how fast time is flying by. This will be a very busy month for us as we make a final push to make sure our students are ready for belt testing and we have a Buddy Week, our monthly PNO and Hyper Fight Club and More. Bring a Buddy to Class March 7-10, 2022

Friday, March 18th  6:00pm-9:00pm

Every kid loves the Ninjago movie, so we thought it was the perfect time to have a night of ninjas and legos! Your kids will learn some sweet ninja moves, take out the evil shadow warriors, build their own ninja clan, make origami throwing stars, play tons of ninja games, and more! They are going to have so much fun with their friends that they will be talking about it for weeks. Spots are Limited… and always fill up FAST! So, be sure to Register Now!

Saturday, March 19th 10:00am Remember - Purple Belts and Up are required to attend at least 1 sparring class per test cycle. This is the last one before the March belt testing! Register in the app or bring $5.00 cash.

Belt Testing: March 21-22 Register through the app by Sunday, 3/20 to avoid the late fee Be sure to have a CLEAN and WELL FITTING White Uniform Minimum 80% class attendance  Patches required for Gold Belts and Up UFAF Membership and Hyper Fight Club required for Purple Belts and Up Must have earned both Black, Red stripes from Stripe Test Week and the Yellow Stripe from Fitness week. (If you are missing either of these stripes, you must schedule a private lesson in order to get a make up evaluation.) Must earn Fitness Stripe in order to test Arrive early - be dressed and ready! If you are late you will not be allowed to test.  RIDGELAND PARENTS - NOTE:  * Limited spots are available for each test time.  * The times are fist come-first served. * You must reserve a time for your appropriate rank level. * If you are not pre-registered for a time before the event, you will not be allowed to test!  No Hyper Pro Training Monday, 3/21 due to Testing! No Black Belt Club Tues, 3/22 due to Testing! If you are NOT TESTING, DO NOT come to class on 3/21-22!

S.W.A.T Team Training Saturday, March 26th 11:00AM

Come learn about being a Leader … On and Off the Mat! Learn about being a good finder, a power mover and about using the coaches alphabet. This training is open to students ages 7 and up who are at least a Purple Belt.  The cost of this training is only $10. Register through the Events Tab on the Dunamis Karate App.

Dunamis Karate News February 2022 One month of 2022 has already come and gone. This month we will begin our TOURNAMENT PREP for the upcoming GOODWILL TOURNAMENT on Feb. 26th in Beaufort, SC. We will have stripe test this month, Hyper Fight Club and the Blast to the Future PNO. Mark your calendars now so you don’t miss anything! Printable Calendar

TOURNAMENT PREP CLASSES 2/4, 2/5, 2/18, 2/19

We will have a Tournament Prep Classes for students who want to learn a WEAPON FORM for the Goodwill Tournament. We will teach students a basic bo form, sword form, or single nunchuck form. The cost is $10 for students who are not members of the Black Belt Club or Masters Club. Bo or Sword Class - Friday, Feb. 4th 5:00 - 6:00pm Single Nunchucks - Saturday, Feb. 5th 10:00 - 11:00 Bo or Sword Class - Friday, Feb. 18th 5:00 - 6:00pm Single Nunchucks - Saturday, Feb. 19th 10:00 - 11:00am You can register for each of the tournament prep classes right through the events tab on the app!

Goodwill Tournament Sat. Feb. 26th Every year our school participates in the GOODWILL TOURNAMENT, which is held in the Beaufort High School Gym. This is the only local tournament we attend and therefore the only chance for our students to compete without having to travel a great distance. This is a GREAT tournament for all ages and ranks. Divisions are broken up into small groups so students don't have to compete against 15-20 other competitors. There will even be a special division just for the TINY TIGERS! Pre-register by February 22nd and the cost is only $60 for 1-3 divisions. After the early bird deadline, the cost will be $65. You can register right through the EVENTS Tab in the Dunamis App! Stripe Testing Feb. 7-10 All Classes will be having “STRIPE TESTING” the week of Jan. 7th. We will evaluate the students on all the skills we have covered over the past 5 weeks. We will evaluate the “A” day and “B” day skills so students need to do their best to attend both days this week! There is no cost for stripe testing!

Blast to the Future Parents Night Out Friday, January 21 6:00 - 9:00 PM Great Scott! We have to save the space-time continuum! If my calculations are correct, your last night without the kids hasn’t happened in well over 30 days! If you don’t get a night away soon, the consequences could be CATASTROPHIC! Not to worry! I have invented the perfect solution! The Blast to the Future Parents Night Out! Bring your little time traveler to a night of fun and games with their friends. They will battle on pirate ships, play future bowling, have an old west duel, rebuild the pyramids, and more! I have been to the future and seen that this Parents Night Out will Sell Out. Don’t wait, the entire timeline depends on your kids! Reserve your spot not by registering through the EVENTS TAB on the Dunamis app!

Saturday, February 12th 10:00 AM Remember sparring is part of your belt requirements. Purple Belts and up are required to spar at least once every 2 months (on average) in order to belt test. $5.00 - Pay through the app or bring cash Students must have their own sparring gear. If you need to purchase gear, the instructions are in the “INTERMEDIATE CURRICULUM” section of the app.

Practice Run Tournament Friday, Feb. 25th On Friday, Feb. 25th, we will have a tournament practice run though. This class will be a practice run allowing students to practice speaking to the judges and demonstrating their kata and/or weapon form. It is a great way to work out some nerves before the actual tournament. This event is only $5 for non club members. You can register for each of the tournament prep classes and the tournament practice run right through the events tab on the app!

January 2022 News - New Year - New Changes - New Excitement

 

Dunamis Karate January 2022 Newsletter Happy New Year! With this new year, we have some exciting new changes in store for our students and we can’t wait to share them with you. We have everyone enjoyed their holiday break! I know my family did! But now that the new year is here, it’s time for us to get back on the mat and get back on track to reach our goals! We are excited to see everyone back in class this week and we can’t wait to welcome all the new students who will be joining us this week. We thank each of you, in advance, for making the new students and parents feel welcome, answering any questions, getting them connected with our social pages and the Dunamis Karate app. Your interaction with the new parents is invaluable! We have some new changes in store this year, but it’s too much to explain in text, so click below to watch the video explaining things!

BRING A BUDDY WEEK January 10-13 We invite our students to bring a friend to class with them during the week of January 10th - January 13th. Some of our best members came to us because a buddy invited them. One of your friends may be the next one! And remember, if your friend enrolls in one of our programs, you get to spin the PRIZE WHEEL!

Register through the Events Tab on the Dunamis Karate App. STORM Team Training Saturday, January 15th 11:00 - 12:30 STORM Team training is by invitation only for students ages 12 and up who are at least a Blue Belt. When looking for potential STORM Team members, we look for students who have completed the SWAT Team training, are serious about leading classes and could potentially become instructors. Students in this class will learn about the Five-Step Teaching Platform, the Learning Circle, Character Development, Class Formations, One Word Commands, Pulling Out Black Belt Qualities, 8 Teaching Strategies, 7 Steps to Teaching a Drill, and MORE!

IMPORTANT Reminders - Next Week's Test Schedule

 IMPORTANT REMINDERS:

Next week is Belt Testing.  IF you/your child is eligible to test, make sure to register in the app by today, Sunday, 12/12, and it will be FREE.   

(If you fail to register by the end of today, the test will cost you $25.)

Belt Test Schedule is as follows:

Krav Maga Test will be Tuesday night - please register and pay for this test in the app ASAP!

Wednesday & Thursday will be FUN Classes.  

All ages and ranks will be combined and students can drop in and out of class whenever you choose i.e., bring them early and let them stay the entire time, or bring them at their normal time and take them home when that time is over.   It's totally up to you.  

The complete Wednesday/Thursday class schedule will be announced later. 

Friday night is the "Elf Squad" PNO 

This is FREE for all students.  Just use the discount code ' DUNAMIS ' when you register through the app.
