Dunamis Tee Instead of Gi - Dec 14-17

Dec. 14-17 students will be allowed to wear a Dunamis Karate tee instead of their gi tops.  Again - This is Dunamis Tees Only!  If you don't have on a Dunamis Karate tee then you will need your Gi!

Belt Graduation - Friday, 12/18  5:30 PM

This is the last belt graduation of 2015 and we want to finish with a bang!  We have some special things in the works so make your plans now to attend!

Belt Graduation Friday, 10/2  5:30 PM Invite your family and friends to join us as we celebrate with each of our students who recently tested and earned new ranks.  Each class level will perform a short demo then we will award the students their new ranks.  (Note this is also the night of the Gopher Hill street dance.  You are welcome to leave your car in our parking lot anytime throughout the weekend and walk over to Main Street to share in the festival fun if interested.) Bring a Friend Week Oct. 5-8 Bring a friend to class with you and both of you will get a special prize! This Week Only!! We Perform Saturday 10/3 at 12:30 PM Once again, our school has been asked to be part of the entertainment for the Gopher Hill Festival.  We will perform at 12:30 right at the stage on Main Street.  Our normal routine is to park at the school and walk to Jacob Smart Blvd. to watch the parade.  After the parade, we walk back to the school, change clothes and practice for our show.  About 12:15, we will walk from Dunamis to Main St.  After our performance, we will walk back and everyone is dismissed.   Wear SNEAKERS - white pants (black for black belts) and our new tees! Thurs. 10/29 Last Day to Wear T-shirts Back to FULL Gi Starting Nov. 1st Register Now Bully Defense Workshops Sat. Oct. 10th 160,000 kids don’t go to school every day due to bullying.  1 in 4 children are bullied. During these free workshops, you will learn how to deal with verbal bullying, cyber bullying, social and emotional bullying and physical bullying.  You will have fun with friends while learning self defense skills against the most common attacks. We have 3 times to choose from:  10:00-11:30, 11:30-1:00, 1:00-2:30.  Space is limited to 20 people per class so register online to reserve your spot ASAP! Register Now

October 23-24 - Regional Event Twice a year, in April and October, UFAF holds Black Belt testing throughout the regions.  For us in Region 7, this test cycle will be held at McCleary’s Premier Martial Arts in Powder Springs, GA (Atlanta area).  There will be FREE seminars for all ages/ranks of UFAF members and the tests are free to watch.  Watch for more details to be released as the time of the event nears. Not a UFAF member yet - Click here to enroll!  (Students who are Purple/White and higher are required to have active UFAF membership to belt test!) Friday, Oct. 30  6:00-8:00  $5.00 Every year students look forward to our annual Kick-R-Treat party.  This year we will have a bouncy house, inside (and maybe outside) games, pizza, and plenty of fun!   The cost is only $5.00 per person and you will get 2 slices of pizza, chips & a drink.  (Additional slices can be purchased for $1.)  You are welcome to wear “NON SCARY” costumes, but it is not required!

Requirements:
- 80% Class Attendance
- Tuition payments up to date
- Exam Request form with high marks (nothing lower than a 2)
- Clean White Uniform
- Flag Patch for Gold and Up
- UFAF Membership for Purple/White and Up

Be sure to turn in your Exam Request form and test fee by Thursday to avoid the $10 late fee!

Jr. and Adult Intermediate   12:30

Join us for a time of celebration!  Each class level will do a short performance then we will award all students who passed the belt evaluations with their new rank.  This night will also serve as a “run through” for our Gopher Hill festival performance.  ALL students need to be in attendance … even if you didn’t test!  This is also the night of the Gopher Hill Festival street dance, which starts at 8:00PM.  We will be done in plenty of time for you to join the fun. Because our school is so close, you are welcome to leave your car in our parking lot and just walk over to the dance!

Sept. 4 & 18       Private Lesson Marathon Get one on one instruction at discounted rates during these 2 private lesson marathons.  Brush up on your skills prior to belt testing, or simply get a little extra help in your training.  These lessons make remarkable difference in our students’ performance, so don’t miss this opportunity to save money and sharpen your techniques!  By appointment only, so reserve your spot today for only $25!! Sept. 14-17 Bring your sparring gear to class! Oct. 3rd  Gopher Hill Festival Every year we look forward to the festivities of the Gopher Hill Festival.  This year, we have started early in our preparations because we want this year’s show to top anything we’ve ever done in the past.  Every class is working on sections of our performance and when we put it all together, it’s sure to be amazing!!  Our exact performance time has not yet been announced, so stay connected through Facebook, the website and our text service so you know the plan!  Gopher Hill Tees We will be ordering T-shirts as well.  All students will need to purchase a shirt … parents and other family members may get shirts as well, but you are not required!  Be sure to get your shirt ordered by Wednesday, September 16th!  The price of the shirts will be $17.00. Dunamis Karate News August 2015 I hope everyone enjoyed the “mini vacation” while we were closed.  I know our team of instructors and students who attended the Chun Kuk Do International Training Conference truly had a blast and gained some great knowledge to share with all of you.  Here is a quick rundown of what you missed: 7/21-22, Miss Andi and I completed the Master Development Series 501 course; 7/22 I attended the Professional Development Series of classes designed to help school owners; 7/23 Miss Andi, Mr. Alex, Tyler & I attended the Instructor Development Series designed to make better instructors; after the IDS classes we all watched as Ryan Gamble from CA was inducted into the CKD Master Ranks.  We also got to see an amazing demonstration of the new UFAF BJJ program.  Following the presentations, we were treated to a Q & A time with Grand Master Chuck Norris, Allen Steen & Skipper Mullens (3 of the all time greatest fighters).  Following the Q & A, we went for a time of celebration at the annual Pool Party! 7/24 all of us attended the ITC Classes which ran from 8:00 until lunch.  After lunch, the demo team competition started.  Miss Andi was asked to join the Cox/Gallacher demo team from Vegas and though their team did not win, they gave an outstanding performance.  Following the demo teams, the forms & weapons competition began.  Kaydence won 1st in forms & weapons, Camren won 1st in weapons, Tyler won 2ndin forms & 4th in weapons, Miss Andi won 1st in forms and went on to compete in Grands in hopes of regaining the coveted Norris Cup.  She gave an awesome performance, but the win went to Erik Esparza from TX.   7/25 we all participated in day 2 of the ITC classes, which ran until lunch time.  After lunch, the team sparring and Jiujitsu competition was held.  None of us participated in those events, but we enjoyed watching, cheering and/or judging. Saturday night we attended the annual UFAF Awards Banquet.  I (Lindy Woods) was honored to be asked to give the invocation.  During the awards ceremony, Miss Andi Woods was awarded the "Most Inspirational" award.  She got to go on stage and receive her award from Mr. Norris.  What a HUGE honor! 7/26 started the sparring competition.  Mr. Alex, Mr. Jimmy, Mrs. Bobbi and I spent the day judging.  Kaydence won 1st in her sparring division.  Tyler won 4th in his Red Belt division and Andi won 1st in her division.   Every year we look forward to attending the ITC.  For us, it’s like a Big family reunion as we get to see our CKD family from all over the world.  Remember, this event is NOT for Black Belts only … all ranks are invited to attend.  This year, we had 1 Purple Belt, 1 Blue Belt and 3 Red Belts from Dunamis Karate participate.   The event will be held again in July 2016.  Start planning now if you would like to join us!! Aug. 14 – Back To School Party 6:00-9:00 Join us for this FREE Fun Night as we celebrate our students returning to school. Aug. 28 – Fight Night 6:00-7:00 $5.00 All Purple Belts and up who have sparring gear are invited to join us for this special fight night.  The cost is only $5.00.
