Dunamis Karate August 2023 Newsletter Over half of this year is already gone.  Summer is coming to an end and it’s nearly time to get back to school.  We know this time of year will be busy for our karate families so we want to keep everyone informed of important events we have planned so you don’t miss them. Please read the newsletter carefully and mark your calendars now with important dates so you don’t forget them!

Preparing for a Black Belt Test We have a number of Red/Black Belt and Black Belt students who are eligible to test for 1st degree or higher in October this year.  The Black Belt test process is NO JOKE and we want to make sure our students are prepared to pass.  That’s why we have schedule several Black Belt Test Prep Workouts throughout August & into October.  Here are the workout dates: August 12 - 10am Until 1pm August 19 - 10am Until 1pm August 26 - 10am Until 1pm September 30 - 10am Until 1pm October 14 - 10am Until 1pm Here are other important dates you’ll need to know: 2nd-3rd Degree Pretest - September 23rd - 11am until 2pm 1st Degree Pretest - September 23rd  3pm until 6pm 1st Degree Black Belt TEST in Ridgeland - Oct. 21st - 11am Until 2nd-3rd DegreeTEST in Beaufort - Oct. 27 10am Until Our Black Belt candidates should attend as many of these classes as possible to prepare for testing.  The events are set up in the app and students should register for each one.  In some cases the workouts are on the SAME DAY as Hyper Fight Club classes.  Black Belt candidates will only need to register for the test prep classes which will include BOTH workouts on those days! (There is a discount code available to Dunamis Karate members.  Contact Mrs. Woods for that info!)

Power Up Parents Night Out

Friday August 18th 6:00-9:00 pm Parents, get some time away from the kids by brining them to our  Power Up Parents Night Out. Parents constantly rave about how much fun their kids have at our PNO events. And the best part?  The kids have fun, get rid of energy, and will be talking about it for days! If your kids love the Power Rangers, they will definitely love this Power Up PNO! It’s going to be 3 hours of fun, active games themed after some of their favorite ninja heroes.   Spots are limited and we tend to fill up quickly so reserve your spot now using the EVENTS Tab in the Dunamis Karate App or use the link below.

Hyper Fight Club Saturday, August 19th 10:00 AM Remember sparring is REQUIRED for PURPLE BELTS & Up.   Intermediate and up students must attend at least one HFC sparring class per test cycle.  Students must have all their own sparring gear to attend!   Register through the events tab of the Dunamis App or bring $5 cash! If you need assistance ordering your approved sparring gear through the Dunamis Karate app, please contact us!

Buddy Week August 28-31

Bring a friend to class with you the week of August 28-31. The lesson plan will include a lot of fun challenges.  If your buddy likes it and becomes a student, you will get to spin the prize wheel!  All Buddies must be PRE-REGISTERED!  Send them to www.DunamisKarate.org and have them click the Buddy Week link to sign up!

Both Locations Closed for Labor Day

We will be CLOSED September 1 & 4 in observance of Labor Day

Ridgeland Location Closed 9/13 - 9/15

All three of our Ridgeland Instructors will be traveling to Florida for UFAF Krav Maga Training so the Ridgeland School will be CLOSED Wednesday, 9/13 through Friday, 9/15.
