Dunamis Karate  October 2024 Newsletter This month is on FIRE!  We have so many important things happening including our annual performance for the Gopher Hill Festival, a 1st degree black belt test, our month parents night out & Hyper Fight Club & MORE!   Printable Calendar HERE

Gopher Hill Festival October 3-5

We are SO excited for our performance this year!  Every year our show gets better and better and this year is really raising the bar!  Every student who bought the pink Gopher Hill tee is invited to join us for the performance on Saturday, 10/5 at 1:00pm.  Thursday, October 3rd  the Hampton school will close completely. In Ridgeland, we will NOT have regular classes.   Instead, we will have an “Open Mat” Gopher Hill practice. from 4:30-5:30pm.   We will only be practicing for the performance.  Students can come in for class and leave when they choose.  You can stay 15 min or 60 minutes.  The choice is yours.  We will rep the performance as many times as possible in that hour.  We invite everyone to join us after the practice on Thursday at the Gopher Hill Festival for the "Kids Parade,” Pet Contest, Bake Sale & Talent Show.  We have several of our students competing again this year!  Saturday, October 5th We will meet at the Ridgeland dojo at 11:30 (after the parade) and practice for about an hour, then we will walk over to Main St. where we will perform at 1:00pm.  Wear your pink GH tee, traditional or club pants, karate belt & SNEAKERS!! Andi Lynn Woods - Family Band If you’re hanging around the festival, please join us for our family band performing on stage at 4pm.

Hyper Fight Club Hampton 10/12 - 10:00am Ridgeland 10/19 - 10:00am

This is the 1st HFC of this new test cycle.  Remember, Purple Belts & Up must attend at least one HFC per 3 month test cycle.

Ghost Force Parents Night Out

Friday, 10/18  6:00-9:00pm

Join us a for a night of fun, friends, and Nerf blaster action at the  GhostForce Parents Night Out! Your little ones will make friends, create crafts, and become mini Ghostbusters with Nerf blasters, while you free up your evening for some "me time." Hyper Leadership Training Saturday, 10/18  11:00am

“Leaders Aren’t Born - They are Made” Open to students Ages 8 & Up Participants will learn these Module 1 Lessons:  10 Solid Foundation Pad-Holding Skills 3 & Empower Strategy 5 Qualities of a Leadership Member Essential Empowerment Phrases 6 Levels of Leadership Leadership is a Skill that can be Learned by Anyone! This class builds Leadership Power and earns Respect which is  the foundation of leadership and helping others. 1. Members practice the teaching/leadership skills with each other in the Leadership Training Sessions.  2. Members role model in their regular classes. They show their leadership skills and help create the leadership culture in our school.  3. When members are ready, they help intern in regular classes and events. Learn, Train, Lead, Empower, Earn Respect and then Teach.

Black Belt Test Friday, October 25th  5:30pm

We have TWO students eligible for their 1st Degree Chuck Norris System black belt.  Creed Langford and Jayla Ager will pretest on Saturday, 10/12 at 10am.   IF they do well on this pretest, they will test for their black belts  2 weeks later on Friday, 10/25. The event is FREE to watch.   Come get a look at what it takes to pass a CNS Black Belt Test!

Trunk-or-Treat

Join us at Lighthouse Church in Hampton on Saturday, 10/26 at 4pm.

We will be closed for Halloween!  Enjoy your night!  Don’t eat too much candy!

Back To FULL UNIFORMS November 4th!

Summer uniforms ends October 30th!   Starting the first week in November, all students will be required to wear  full uniforms to class!

•  Looking for volunteers to help out an hour at a time

Dunamis Karate  September 2024 Newsletter We have some really exciting things happening this month.  We are especially looking forward to the 30 in 30 challenge and the Open House Community Event.  This month we also have belt testing & graduation!  There are so many things you will not want to miss.  Be sure to read this email carefully and mark your calendars now so you don’t miss/forget anything!!  Printable Calendar HERE

We are exciting to be joining Century Martial Arts and the Martial Arts Industry Association in a 30 in 30 Challenge.  This is a global effort to revive and strengthen the martial arts industry by adding 30k students over the next 30 days.  There are about 1,000 schools joining in this challenge.   Our goal for Dunamis Karate will be to add 30 new members.   We need YOUR HELP to make this happen.

Century Martial Arts is donating one of a kind commemorative coins that will go to any student who has a referral who enrolls on a regular program.   These coins will not be available after this month and they cannot be bought.  You earn a coin by joining the challenge and referring more members.  In addition to the challenge coin, Dunamis Karate will offer DOUBLE REWARDS in the month of September.  So when you refer someone who enrolls, instead of a $25 or $50 gift card, you get $50 or $100!!!   In addition to the Challenge Coin and the DOUBLE REWARDS, we will also be holding a TICKET CONTEST and giving away some amazing prizes.  The grand prizes include a remote controlled car, a drone, a ukulele package,  and … Drumroll …  PIE IN THE FACE for one of your favorite instructors.   Students can earn tickets every time they attend class, for having a buddy do the New Student Experience class, attending the PNO and HFC, and So much More!

Saturday, 9/7 at 10am

Call of the Mission Parents Night Out Friday, 9/13  6-9pm

Call of the Mission is a fast-paced, action-packed, and playful take on the popular first-person shooter game. Players would engage in battles using a variety of nerf blasters with foam darts. The objective of the game is to eliminate the opposing team or complete certain objectives, but with the added element of a safe and fun twist.  The sound effects, and maps will be intense and immersive, making it a unique and entertaining experience for players of all ages. Imagine running around with friends or playing online, dodging enemy fire, and strategically planning your next move, all while using nerf gun. Imagine having to rescue fallen soldiers, capture enemy flags and traverse obstacles to complete missions with military precision.   Your kids will have to get through obstacles, save their buddies, work together and have calm precision to take on this month's PNO. Register Now - This will fill up quickly!

HYPER FIGHT CLUB SPARRING CLASS  RIDGELAND 9/14 HAMPTON 9/21

Hyper Leadership Training Saturday, 9/14 at 11:00 AM

30% of Leadership Qualities are the result of Genetics 70% are LEARNED!  Enroll Now and learn the skills to be a Leader in Life! Once a student has completed all 5 of the level 1 modules,  they will earn the “student leader t-shirt!”  Open to All Ranks - Ages 8 and Up

SEPTEMBER 23-25, 2024 BELT TESTING

Hampton Students will be testing on Monday & Tuesday, 9/23-24.  If you are not testing, do not come to class on Monday or Tuesday!   Wednesday & Thursday will be “normal class” for the Hampton school.   Ridgeland students will be testing Monday-Wednesday.  If you are not testing, do not come to class Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday!    Thursday will be regular class for the Ridgeland school! REGISTER BY 9/16 TO AVOID THE LATE FEE REGISTRATION WILL CLOSE COMPLETELY ON 9/20!!  Arrive early - be dressed and ready!  If you are late, you will not be allowed to test.  If you are not pre-registered, you will not be allowed to test!  TEST REQUIREMENTS:  * Wear Clean well-fitting white uniform                                   * Minimum 80% Class attendance * Membership Program Payments up to date                                                    * Must have earned Black, Red, & Yellow Stripes (Traditional, Combatives, Fitness) * Flag & Dunamis Patch attached to the uniform (Gold Belts & Up)         * Active UFAF Membership (Purple Belts & up) * Hyper Fight Club Attendance (Purple & Up – 1 every 3 months)

Belt Graduation will be held in Ridgeland on Friday, June 27th.   Registration for graduation will open after belt testing!  Only students who pass their belt test need to register for graduation.  Graduation is optional.  If you choose not to attend, you will get your belt in the next normally scheduled class.

Open House Sat. 9/28

Join us on Saturday, 9/28 for a free community event/open house.  We will have a bounce house, martial arts classes, popcorn/cotton candy, prizes & giveaways & one lucky winner will get to PIE-A-SENSEI in the face!   Stay tuned - we will be releasing more information and asking for volunteers soon!!

Gopher Hill Festival  Oct. 3-5

Once again we are planning a HUGE performance for the Gopher Hill Festival.   We will begin to work some of these things in class over the next few weeks.  We will have one BIG practice in Ridgeland on Saturday, 10/5  around 11:30 (immediately after the parade), then we will walk from the dojo to Main Street where we will perform.  We want ALL our students to take part in this performance.  We will be taking orders for the Gopher Hill Tee, which will be our “uniform” for the event soon.  Every student must have one in order to take part in the show!
