Year-End News for Dunamis Karate

Dunamis Karate News November/December 2017 The end of the year is quickly approaching and these last 2 months are going to fly by.  Because of the Christmas/New Year holiday and some Black Belt training conflicts, we will be escalating our belt test schedule.  Students will belt test at the end of November.  Please do your best to attend every class so you don’t miss the opportunity to test! Starting November 6th, ALL Students will be REQUIRED to wear FULL Uniforms to class. Hyper, Sparring & Krav classes still allow t-shirts.  All traditional classes require full uniforms starting November 6th.

Updates

The Gopher Hill Festival is quickly approaching and, if possible, we would like ALL of our students to participate in our annual performance.  We will be working on pieces of the demo in every class between now and Oct. 7th so the students will be ready... but you must order a special t-shirt to be part of the show.  The shirt is only $12 plus tax and we encourage students, siblings, and parents to get one.  It will be a great way to show our "Dunamis Spirit."

Monday, 9/18, is the deadline to order, so call, text or email to give your size and color choice if you won't be in the school!

UNIFORM SPECIALS!

One of our martial arts suppliers is having a clearance sale on some colored uniforms.  While we can get them for a discount, we thought we'd stock up.  These uniforms could be worn during any class, but you will still need your traditional white uniform for belt testing!

September 2017 News Summer is over and we are back into our normal routine of things.  We have a lot of things happening over the next 2 months including belt testing, a back to school party and a Fight Night … so please read carefully and mark your calendars so you don’t miss anything! September 15 Weapon Demo Class 5:30 – 6:30 $10  Come learn a bo form to use in the Gopher Hill performance.  Space is limited so RSVP soon! September 29 Back to School Party – NERF WAR & Gopher Hill Practice 6:00-8:00 This is a FREE Event!  Students need to pre-register to reserve a spot.  In addition to a massive Nerf War, we will have a practice run for our Gopher Hill Festival performance. October 6 Private Lesson Marathon 3:00 – 5:30 Belt testing is quickly approaching.  A one on one private lesson is a great way to help students sharpen their skills and be fully prepared for belt testing.  During this private lesson marathon, students can book a ½ hour lesson in Ridgeland with Mrs. Woods for only $25.  See Mrs. Woods or Mrs. Allison to schedule your lesson asap!  There are only 6 spots available!! We will be closed Monday, September 4th in honor of Labor Day September 22 Hyper Fight Club & Pizza Night 6:00 – 7:30    $10.00 Join us for this fun night of sparring and 2 slices of pizza.  Remember sparring is a part of the requirements for students Purple Belt and up!  Intermediate students are required to attend at least 1 fight night per test cycle and Advanced students are required to attend at least 2 per test cycle.  If you did not attend the Aug. fight night, then you must attend this one in order to be eligible to test!   If you are a purple belt or higher and you don’t have sparring gear, see Mrs. Woods ASAP to get it ordered! Saturday October 7 Gopher Hill Festival Performance 12:30pm Every year we look forward to performing for the crowds at the annual Gopher Hill Festival and this year we have some great things planned.  We would like ALL students (from Hampton & Ridgeland) to join us in this demo!   Over the next 5-6 weeks, we will be working on various pieces of the performance during our normal class times.  We also have a practice walk through planned the night of our back to school Nerf war on 9/29.   We require everyone who is participating in the demo to purchase the special Gopher Hill t-shirt.  The deadline for orders is 9/18.  Parents and family members are welcome and encouraged to also purchase a t-shirt to show your support for our students!  The cost of the tees is only $12 plus tax.
