1st Degree Black Belt Test

Saturday, April 6th 10:00 AM in Ridgeland We have 2 candidates testing for 1st degree black belt on Saturday, April 6th, Mr. Slade Anderson from the Hampton location and Miss Kianah Alvarez from our Online training program.  This event is open to spectators.

Turtle Mayhem PNO HAMPTON - Friday, 4/12 RIDGELAND - Friday, 4/26 The Mutant Mayhem PNO will be an interactive game night inspired by the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! Perfect for kids aged 5-12, this event offers a thrilling blend of action and creativity.  Your little ninjas will wield padded swords and nunchucks, engage in safe and fun battles, follow along to exciting audio drills, and explore their artistic side with TMNT-themed arts and crafts. Plus, they'll love making and munching on delicious TMNT-inspired snacks.  It's a fantastic way to engage their energy, spark their imagination, and provide an unforgettable evening of adventure and fun! 4th Degree Black Belt Test Saturday, April 20th in Ridgeland at 10:00 AM Following the test we will have a series of training seminars for our students who are UFAF members.  Stay tuned for more information on these training opportunities.

Hyper Leadership Training Saturday, 4/27, 11:00 AM

Leadership is a Skill that can be Learned by Anyone This class builds Leadership Power and earns Respect which is the foundation of leadership and helping others. 1. Members practice the teaching/leadership skills with each other in the Leadership Training Sessions. 2. Members role model in their regular classes. They show their leadership skills and help create the leadership culture in our school. 3. When members are ready, they help intern in regular classes and events. Stripe Testing April 29 - May 2 Do your best to attend both your A-day and B-day classes.  If you miss or fail a stripe test you must get a private lesson to make up the test!!

Summer Uniforms Start May 6th During the months of May through October, students are allowed to wear a “summer uniform" in stead of the full uniforms.   The summer uniform consists of shorts (longer than the finger tips) or workout pants with the Dunamis Karate logo and a Dunamis Karate, Chuck Norris System, UFAF or UFAF Krav Maga tee shirt.   Finding a summer uniform is super easy.  You can purchase tees from our pro shop, the UFAF store, or bring us your tee/shorts and we can add the Dunamis Karate logo.

Saturday, March 2nd at 10am Saturday, March 9th at 10am Red and Black Belts: Start prepping now for your black belt test.  Find out exactly what’s in store for you when it’s your time to test.  Get in the training to be prepared and go into your test with confidence! This is open to Red and Black Belts only!

Parents Night Out 3/8 in Hampton 3/15 in Ridgeland

The Athlete Games is an exhilarating and creative event for children aged 5 to 12, blending physical challenges and imaginative activities in a safe and fun environment.  Kids can participate in a variety of games, from the strategy-driven Mockingjay Scavenger Hunt and the Fortress Build competition, to the innovative Capitol Fashion Show and Peeta's Bakery Challenge. The night also includes action-packed activities like Tracker Jacker Tag, Archery Knockdown, and the Athlete Games Final Challenge with events such as Pool Noodle Javelin and Paper Airplane Toss.  This unique experience not only fosters teamwork and creativity but also gives parents a well-deserved break, knowing their kids are engaged in a day full of learning, fun, and adventure. Hampton - March 9th at 10am Ridgeland - March 16th at 10am Purple Belts & Up - this is your last chance to meet your sparring requirements before belt testing!

March 18-21 Limited spots are available for each time slot.   The times are fist come-first served! You must reserve a time for your appropriate rank level.   Arrive early - be dressed and ready!  If you are late you will not be allowed to test.  If you are not pre-registered, you will not be allowed to test!  TEST REQUIREMENTS:  * Clean well-fitting white uniform                                   * Minimum 80% Class attendance * Membership Program Payments up to date                                                    * Test fee paid by Monday, 3/11 or $10 late fee will be added. * Must have earned Black, Red, & Yellow Stripes (Traditional, Combatives, Fitness) * Flag & Dunamis Patch attached to the uniform (Gold Belts & Up)         * Active UFAF Membership (Purple Belts & up) * Fight Night Attendance (Purple & Up – 1 every 3 months) Register by 3/11 to avoid the late fee! Register NOW in the Dunamis Karate app!   Registration will be turned off on 3/15!! If you do not register before 3/15, you will not be allowed to test!

Test Schedule

Belt Graduation Friday, March 22

This is an optional time of performance and celebration for students who pass their belt test.  Each student will be able to perform some of their best, most exciting skills for family and friends then receive their new belts.   The Black Belt Club & Master Club students will also perform. After you pass your test, register for the graduation.  There is no additional fee to attend, but we want to know who is coming so we can be prepared. Due to limited space, we will separate students by rank. New Students, Tiny Tigers & Beginners will have their ceremony at 5:00. Intermediate & Advanced ranks will have their ceremony at 6:30. This event will be held at our Ridgeland location: 1000 West Adams St., Ridgeland, SC 29936 Students who do not attend the graduation will get their new belts at the next regularly scheduled class.

Saturday, March 23rd

Red/Black belts who are eligible to test for 1st degree will pretest at 10:00am.   Mr. DJ will pretest for his 4th degree black belt at 1:00pm.

Dunamis Karate February 2024 Newsletter As we enter the 2nd month of this new year, we are off to a great start and our students are working hard toward their next belt test in March.  But in February, we have something special - a KARATE TOURNAMENT!  Because we want our students to be prepared, we are adding some tournament prep classes to the calendar to help them prepare.  We also have our usual PNOs scheduled, plus Hyper Fight Club & Hyper Leadership Training.  You’re going to want to read this newsletter carefully and make your calendars now and set reminders so you don’t forget anything! Every year we look forward to participating in the Goodwill Tournament in Beaufort.  This is the one chance that our students have to compete against other martial artists without having to travel very far!   This is a GREAT tournament for ALL ranks!!   We want ALL students, Tiny Tigers & Up, to participate!   There is a special division for Tiny Tiger ages, while older students get to compete in forms, weapons, sparring or flag sparring for those who are under purple belt. Every competitor will get a beautiful plaque to take home and ribbons are awarded for 1st-4th place. Our students will also be performing for the opening ceremonies, so we will begin working some things with music during class! Tournament Prep Bo Class

Friday, February 2nd in RIDGELAND Non Black Belt Club & Masters Club members who would like to learn a bo staff form to use in competition at the Goodwill Tournament (on Feb. 24th), can register now to attend this special class. On Friday, Feb. 2nd, we will open the Ridgeland mat to all members who wish to learn the bo.  We will teach you the necessary skills with the weapons and put the skills together in a simple for that you can use at the tournament. Register Now in the Dunamis Karate App with the EVENTS tab! Students who attend this class can also attend a 2nd review class on February, 9th.  This 2nd class will be a time to review the form we taught on 2/2 and practice with the help on an instructor.  This class will NOT teach the form.  It is only a REVIEW!!  Students who do not attend the 2/2 class are not allowed to attend the 2/9 class!

Night of the Ninja PNO

HAMPTON Feb. 9 RIDGELAND Feb. 16 This first Parents Night Out of the new year is going to be a BLAST - Literally!!   Night of the Ninja will be a night full of Nerf Wars and Dodgeball!!   We will even have a NINJA OBSTACLE COURSE!! For this event, we will provide Guns, Bullets & Safety Goggles! You may dress up as your favorite Ninja and Battle It Out with Your Friends!   You do not need to bring a gun!  Every Attendee will get a NERF GUN to take home!!  Register Now in the Dunamis Karate App or click the button below! NOTE: We have separate Hampton and Ridgeland PNO events in the app so make sure you click on the correct location when registering!!

Hyper Fight Club Sparring Class

HAMPTON Feb. 10th RIDGELAND Feb. 17th Purple Belts & Up are required to attend sparring classes at least 1x per test cycle.  This is also a great opportunity to practice your sparring skills before the Goodwill Tournament (on 2/24).  Both Hampton & Ridgeland will have just one more sparring class before belt testing in March! As per our insurance company’s guidelines, only approved sparring gear can be worn on the mat.  The appropriate gear is available for purchase through the Dunamis Karate app.  Students who do not have the approved gear purchased through Dunamis Karate will not be allowed to participate.  If you did not purchase your gear from us, please make arrangements to do so ASAP!

STRIPE TESTING WEEK 2/12-2/15

February 12 through February 15th is STRIPE TEST WEEK! Students will test to earn their BLACK & RED Stripes during class! Make sure you attend you A-day and your B-day class to earn both stripes. Students who miss or fail a stripe test must get a private lesson to make it up!

Goodwill Tournament Practice Run

Friday, 2/23 in RIDGELAND This event is for EVERYONE attending the Goodwill Tournament!!   We will practice the lineup, bow in and introductions to the judges.  Each student will get to perform their form and/or weapon form in front of our "judges" and receive a score.  They will practice exiting the ring and showing respect to the next competitor.   This final tournament prep class is sure to make the students feel confident and prepared for the competition! This is not a class where we will TEACH a form or weapon.  It is simply a time to practice and get feedback from our instructor team.   We need all participants to try to attend this event because we will also do a run through of our "demo" for the opening ceremonies!

New Black Belts for our Leaders Dunamis Karate instructors, Lindy & Andi Woods, crushed their Level 1 Hyper Black Belt test in California last month.  We hope their example continues to inspire our students to press on and keep training! Click the image below to see a video highlight reel!
