We have everyone enjoyed their holiday break! I know my family did! But now that the new year is here, it’s time for us to get back on the mat and get back on track to reach our goals! We are excited to see everyone back in class this week and we can’t wait to welcome all the new students who will be joining us this week. We thank each of you, in advance, for making the new students and parents feel welcome, answering any questions, getting them connected with our social pages and the Dunamis Karate app. Your interaction with the new parents is invaluable! We have some new changes in store this year, but it’s too much to explain in text, so click below to watch the video explaining things!

WATCH EXPLANATION OF NEW YEAR CHANGES

BRING A BUDDY WEEK January 10-13 We invite our students to bring a friend to class with them during the week of January 10th - January 13th. Some of our best members came to us because a buddy invited them. One of your friends may be the next one! And remember, if your friend enrolls in one of our programs, you get to spin the PRIZE WHEEL!

SWAT Team Training Friday, 1/14 6:00 - 7:30pm Come learn about being a Leader … On and Off the Mat Learn about being a good finder, a power mover and about using the coaches alphabet. This training is open to students ages 7 and up who are at least a Purple Belt. The cost of this training is only $10. Register through the Events Tab on the Dunamis Karate App. STORM Team Training Saturday, January 15th 11:00 - 12:30 STORM Team training is by invitation only for students ages 12 and up who are at least a Blue Belt. When looking for potential STORM Team members, we look for students who have completed the SWAT Team training, are serious about leading classes and could potentially become instructors. Students in this class will learn about the Five-Step Teaching Platform, the Learning Circle, Character Development, Class Formations, One Word Commands, Pulling Out Black Belt Qualities, 8 Teaching Strategies, 7 Steps to Teaching a Drill, and MORE!

Blast to the Future Parents Night Out Friday, January 21 6:00 - 9:00 PM Great Scott! We have to save the space-time continuum! If my calculations are correct, your last night without the kids hasn’t happened in almost 30 days! If you don’t get a night away soon, the consequences could be CATASTROPHIC! Not to worry! I have invented the perfect solution! The Blast to the Future Parents Night Out! Bring your little time traveler to a night of fun and games with their friends. They will battle on pirate ships, play future bowling, have an old west duel, rebuild the pyramids, and more! I have been to the future and seen that this Parents Night Out will Sell Out. Don’t wait, the entire timeline depends on your kids!

Saturday, January 22 10:00 AM Remember sparring is part of your belt requirements. Purple Belts and up are required to spar at least once every 2 months (on average) in order to belt test. $5.00 - Pay through the app or bring cash Students must have their own sparring gear. If you need to purchase gear, the instructions are in the “INTERMEDIATE CURRICULUM” section of the app.

IMPORTANT Reminders - Next Week's Test Schedule

 IMPORTANT REMINDERS:

Next week is Belt Testing.  IF you/your child is eligible to test, make sure to register in the app by today, Sunday, 12/12, and it will be FREE.   

(If you fail to register by the end of today, the test will cost you $25.)

Belt Test Schedule is as follows:

Krav Maga Test will be Tuesday night - please register and pay for this test in the app ASAP!

Wednesday & Thursday will be FUN Classes.  

All ages and ranks will be combined and students can drop in and out of class whenever you choose i.e., bring them early and let them stay the entire time, or bring them at their normal time and take them home when that time is over.   It's totally up to you.  

The complete Wednesday/Thursday class schedule will be announced later. 

Friday night is the "Elf Squad" PNO 

This is FREE for all students.  Just use the discount code ' DUNAMIS ' when you register through the app. 

Saturday, 12/18 BBC/MC/Hyper Mega Class This will be our last class of the year … we want to wrap up the year with a MEGA Class with ALL of our Black Belt Club, Masters Club, and Hyper Pro Training Students. 10:00 - 10:30   Bo Staff - BBC/MC 10:30 - 11:00   Chucks - BBC/MC 11:00 - 12:00   Hyper Pro Training - Air Track Session 12:00 - 1:00     Lunch Break 1:00 - 3:00       Teen Movie

10:00 AM Saturday, November 6th & Saturday, November 20th Purple Belts & Up, you will have 2 more chances to get your required sparring class attendance in before our next belt testing in Dec. Remember, you must attend at least 1 sparring class per test cycle in order to be eligible to test. These will be your ONLY chances to meet those requirements before the Dec. belt test! You can register on the app or bring $5 cash!

Among Up Parents Night Out Friday, November 18th. 6-9pm

Inspired by the popular video game “Among Us” ... A night of mystery & puzzle-solving! I KNOW if your kiddos play video games, they have heard of the new hit game “Among Us”! Let me give you the scoop ... This video game involves trying to find the imposters in a group of crew mates. You have to work as a team in order to find out who the imposters are! Sound cool yet? We hope so! So why not give your child the real-life experience of playing a game? Only with other students and friends! And the best part? Wait for it… You get the night off while we take care of things! What’s really COOL about our PNOs is that they’re… Such a ONE-OF-A-KIND experience A great way for kids to fantasize and have FUN Popular with what kids already LOVE A great way for parents to be KID-FREE and RELAX If your child loves being active and playing high-energy games, they’re going to LOVE this! Hide and Shriek PNO Friday, Oct. 22. 6:00-9:00 PM

Let’s face it. Parenting can be hard, but what can be even harder is finding a FUN and SAFE activity to drop your kids off at. Luckily, on October 22nd, we will be holding our Hide & Shriek Parent’s Night Out! Your kids will be tasked with exploring mars surface, facing off against the aliens that have stowed away on their ship, and disabling a computer gone crazy! The best part? The kids come home exhausted and ready for bed! Don't wait, there are limited spaces available, so register today!

HYPER FIGHT CLUB Saturday, 10/23 10:00 AM Purple Belts & Up, grab your sparring gear and join us for some great sparring drills and skills to build your sparring ability. Remember this class is REQUIRED for PURPLE BETLS & UP. You must have your own sparring gear to attend. FYI - Summer Uniforms END Oct. 31st. Full Uniforms will be required for ALL classes starting November 1st!

Did You Know We Started a New Facebook Group This group is for families who may be looking for a way to learn more about the Bible together. They are enjoyable for kids, teens and parents! The videos are created by Jason David and his wife and they are taking us on a journey through the Bible chronologically. If you are interested in the videos, be sure to request access to the group!

Yemassee Shrimp Festival Dunamis Karate Demo

Saturday, September 18th 11:30 AM We would like to have ALL our students participate in this performance for the Yemassee Shrimp Festival. This is our FIRST TIME ever participating in the Shrimp Festival and we would like to have a strong showing to represent our schools. We will be practicing various pieces and incorporating music during class over the next few weeks in preparation for the performance. More details will be forthcoming.

K.I.D. PNO Kids In Disguise Parents Night Out Friday, September 24th. 6-9pm We have a secret mission coming up for our students… our Kids In Disguise Parent’s Night Out! We’re all sure to remember the first time we wanted to be a spy of international intrigue… now here is the chance to fulfill your Child's daydream! This night is seriously going to be cool! I promise you and your child will love it! It’ll be intense, fun, and a great team-building experience for your kids! If your child loves to get active, they are sure to love this awesome night. Why? Gopher Hill Festival Dunamis Karate Performance

Saturday, October 2nd at 1:00 pm Every year, we look forward to being part of the Gopher Hill Festival entertainment. We typically draw a huge crowd of spectators who are anxious to see what new surprise we have in store for the show! Last year, the event was canceled due to Covid, so we are especially excited to be able to perform for our community friends this year! We want ALL students from BOTH schools to be part of this year's show. We will have special t-shirts available for order soon so Stay Tuned!
