Dunamis Karate  November/December 2022 Newsletter The end of the year is quickly approaching and we intend to go out with a BANG! Over the next two months, we have a lot of things happening. Starting November 1st Students Will Be Required to Wear FULL UNIFORMS  to Every Class! T-shirts & Shorts will no longer be allowed on the mat!

Dunamis Karate has been asked to perform for the Hampton Fall Block Party on Friday, November 11th. The event will be held on Lee Avenue (AKA Main Street) in Hampton.  More details will be available soon.

Saturday, November 12th 10:00 AM We have SEVEN students from Dunamis Karate who will be testing for their  1st Degree Chuck Norris System Black Belt.

November 14-17 - Bring a Friend to Class Karate classes are even more fun  when you get to do it with your friends!  That’s why we invite our members to bring a friend to class the week of  November 14-17. It will be a week of fun karate challenges and fitness games.  As an added bonus, if your buddy decides to join one of our membership programs, you will get to spin the PRIZE WHEEL! Students do NOT need to register for this … we only need registration from your special guest who will join us on the mat! Just share the link below to your guest!

Regional 2nd &Up Black Belt Test  & Training Seminars Saturday, Nov. 19th 10:00 AM We are honored to be hosting the Region 7 Black Belt test and training seminars on Saturday, November 19th. The test will start at 10:00 AM and is free to watch.   After a lunch break and a Region 7 Board meeting,  we will host some training seminars. Details on these seminars  will be available soon.  Stay Tuned!

Closed Nov. 23-26 for Thanksgiving No Classes will be held on these days!

DECEMBER EVENTS

Hyper Fight Club Saturday, December 10th 10:00AM Purple Belts & Up grab your sparring gear and join us for some great sparring drills as we build your fighting skills and fulfill your test requirements.  This will be your LAST chance to attend a sparring class and meet your test requirements!

Belt Testing December 12-13 Register through the app by Thursday, 12/8 to avoid the late fee! On 12/9 the late fee will be added!  After 12/11, registration will be closed.  If you are not registered by 12/11, you will not be allowed to test!  TEST REQUIREMENTS: * Be sure to have a FULL CLEAN and WELL FITTING White Uniform * Minimum 80% class attendance * Patches required for Gold Belts and Up * UFAF Membership & Hyper Fight Club required for Purple Belts & Up * Must have earned both Black & Red stripes from Stripe Test Week (If you are missing either of these stripes, you must schedule a private lesson in order to get a make up evaluation.) * Must earn Yellow Fitness Stripe in order to test. On Test Day - Arrive Early - be dressed and ready! If you are late you will not be allowed to test. RIDGELAND PARENTS - NOTE:  * Limited spots are available for each test time.  * The times are first come-first served. * You must reserve a time for your appropriate rank level. * If you are not pre-registered for a time before the event, you will not be allowed to test! If you are NOT testing, do NOT come to class on these days!

Snowball Wars Parents Night Out December 16, 2022 MERRY CHRISTMAS! This PNO will be FREE - Our gift to each of you, but space is still limited!   THE SECRET DISCOUNT CODE WILL BE ANNOUNCED IN CLASS SOON!  This event will close out the year then we will be closed until  Jan. 2nd for the Christmas & New Year holidays.

What's Up Monday 10/31/22

Announcements for the week of 10/31/22:

We are back to FULL Uniforms this week

 - Make sure to wear your full uniform, pants, gi top, & belt to every class

Buddy Week Coming 11/14-17

 - Bring a friend to class for fun fitness challenges

 - If you friend becomes a student, you get to spin the PRIZE WHEEL

 - You don't need to register, have your Buddy visit the website below so their parents can sign the waiver before class

 - www.dunamiskarate.org - click BUDDY WEEK then choose Hampton or Ridgeland.

Nov. 18 - Next PNO is "Ultimate Knockout Royale"

 - Themed after the hit game "Fall Guys"

 - Kids will be balancing, dodging, jumping obstacles and MORE!

 - Spots are limited so register soon!

Belt Testing Coming Dec. 12-13

 - Check now and make sure you have a clean, well fitting uniform

 - Purchase private lessons now to make up any missed/failed stripe tests or to sharpen skills in preparation for testing success.

Dunamis Karate Newsletter October 2022 Here’s a look at what’s happening at Dunamis Karate this month.   Be sure to mark your calendars now so you don’t forget any of the  important things we have going on this month!  Printable October Calendar

CLOSED THUR/FRI OCT. 6-7

Due to the Gopher Hill Festival activities, we will be closed at BOTH LOCATIONS Thursday, 10/6, and Friday, 10/7. No classes will be held on these 2 days.

Gopher Hill Festival Performance Saturday, 10/8 at 1:00 PM

We will meet at Dunamis Karate in Ridgeland on Saturday after the parade (between 11:30-12:00pm). We will practice for about an hour then walk over to Main St.  where we will perform at 1pm.  Students need to be wearing their white traditional gi pants,  family tree t-shirt, belt and SNEAKERS!   NO SANDALS, FLIP FLOPS, SLIDES, CROCS!

Black Belt Pretest Saturday, 10/15

The pretest for the 2nd degree and up candidates will start at 9:00 AM. The pretest for the 1st degree candidates will start at 1:00 PM. This event is free to watch. ALL CANDIDATES MUST REGISTER IN THE APP IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE!

Stripe Testing During Class October 17 - 20

Zombie Hunter Parents Night Out Friday, October 21st 6-9pm

ARGGHHHH…GRRRRR…BRAINS!!! Bet you’re wondering what that line was all about?   ZOMBIES!!!!  Dunamis Karate is hosting 3 hours of fun and games for your kids and their friends.  Think about it… Zombies + Nerf Guns = The one event that every kid in the town  will want to attend! Reserve your space here before it’s too late! Register in the Dunamis Karate App! *DISCLAIMER* - No brains will actually be eaten at this Spooktacular Parents Night Out!

Hyper Fight Club  Saturday, 10/22 at 10:00 AM

Purple Belts & Up are required to attend at least one HFC per test cycle. This will be the 2nd Hyper Fight Club class of this test cycle.  Students will need to have their own sparring gear in order to attend. If you need assistance ordering the gear through the app, contact Mrs. Woods.  REGISTER IN THE APP OR BRING $5 CASH

Black Belt Test Prep Saturday, 10/22 10:00am - 1:00 pm

This will be the LAST Black Belt test prep before the actual Black Belt test in November! Be sure to wear your full uniform and bring ALL your equipment. You will participate in the normal HFC class then we will continue working on skills to prepare you for the test until around 1pm.  REMEMBER TO REGISTER IN THE APP OR BRING $10 CASH

End of “Summer” Uniforms Return to Full Uniforms November 1st

Summer is officially over and so are the “summer” uniforms.   Students will no longer be allowed to wear t-shirts/shorts to class.   All students are required to wear FULL UNIFORMS to class  starting November 1st.  This rule will be in affect until April 2023.

We will be closed Monday, 10/31

Many of our students participate in “trick-or-treating” or fall festivals on Halloween, so we will not hold any classes on this holiday.

Dunamis Karate Announcements for the week of October 3, 2022

Gopher Hill Festival Performance is this Saturday at 1:00pm! 
 - We want all students to participate.  You will need the "family tree" t-shirt. 

No Class Thursday/Friday this week due to Gopher Hill Festival activities.

Saturday Demo Practice after the parade - Meet at Dunamis Karate in Ridgeland between 11:30-12:00 and we will practice for our show then walk over to Main St. where we perform at 1pm.  Students need to wear their white traditional gi pants, karate belt, family tree t-shirt and SNEAKERS!!!
